"Acting Against Bullying: Empowering Teachers with Mindfulness and Theatre Technique” is a dynamic and interactive course designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively address peer bullying through the integration of mindfulness and theatre techniques. Through a combination of theory, practical exercises, and collaborative activities, participants will explore the transformative potential of mindfulness-infused theatre in creating inclusive school environments and fostering empathy among students. By the end of the course, teachers will be empowered to utilise innovative approaches to prevent peer bullying, promote well-being, and cultivate a culture of kindness and respect in their classrooms. 

  1. Understanding Peer Bullying: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the different forms of peer bullying, its impact on students' well-being, and the importance of proactive intervention strategies.
  2. Mindfulness Principles: Teachers will explore core mindfulness principles and techniques, including breathing exercises, body scans, and mindful listening, and understand how these practices can be applied to support students' emotional regulation and resilience.
  3. Theatre in Education: Participants will examine the role of theatre in education, particularly its potential to address social issues such as peer bullying, and learn how to integrate theatrical elements into classroom activities effectively.
  4. Empathy Building: Teachers will learn strategies for fostering empathy among students and promoting a culture of compassion and understanding, essential components in preventing and addressing peer bullying.
  5. Practical Application: Through hands-on workshops and role-playing exercises, participants will develop practical skills in incorporating mindfulness and theatre techniques into their teaching practice, allowing them to create engaging and impactful learning experiences for their students.
  6. Creating Safe Spaces: Participants will explore strategies for creating safe and supportive learning environments where students feel empowered to speak up against bullying and seek help when needed.
  7. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Teachers will engage in collaborative discussions and problem-solving activities to address common challenges and barriers to preventing peer bullying effectively.
  8. Action Planning: By the end of the course, participants will develop personalized action plans outlining how they will implement the strategies and techniques learned during the training in their classrooms and school communities.

Lessons will take place from Monday to Friday in the morning. 


Day 1: Understanding Peer Bullying and Mindfulness

Exploring the Role of Mindfulness in Addressing Peer Bullying: Understanding its Principles and Benefits.

Practical Introduction to Mindfulness Techniques: Breathing Exercises, Body Scan, and Mindful Listening.

Group Activities: Practicing Mindfulness Techniques and Reflecting on Their Potential Applications in Peer Bullying Scenarios. 


Day 2: Integrating Mindfulness with Theatre Plays


Exploring the Power of Theatre in Education: Understanding its Role in Addressing Social Issues.

Introduction to Using Theatre Plays to Address Peer Bullying: Benefits and Challenges.

Brainstorming Session: Identifying Key Themes and Scenarios for Theatre Plays Related to Peer Bullying.

Practical Workshop: Integrating Mindfulness Techniques into Theatre Activities.

Group Exercise: Collaborative Script Writing Incorporating Mindfulness Concepts and Peer Bullying Prevention Strategies.


Day 3:  Role of Empathy in Peer Bullying Prevention


Understanding the Importance of Empathy in Creating Inclusive School Environments.

Exploring Empathy-Building Activities for Students: Case Studies and Best Practices.

Interactive Discussion: Strategies for Cultivating Empathy Among Students and Teachers.

Empathy in Action: Role-Playing Scenarios of Peer Bullying with a Focus on Empathetic Responses.

Group Reflection: Sharing Insights and Challenges Encountered During Role-Playing Activities.


Day 4:  Deepening Mindfulness and Empathy Integration


Advanced Mindfulness Techniques: Cultivating Compassion and Self-Awareness.

Group Meditation: Guided Practice to Deepen Mindfulness Skills.

Theatre Rehearsals: Fine-tuning Scripts and Incorporating Mindfulness and Empathy Techniques.

Peer Feedback Session: Providing Constructive Criticism and Supportive Suggestions for Improvement. 


Day 5: Implementing Mindfulness-Based Theatre in the Classroom


Strategies for Integrating Mindfulness-Based Theatre into Classroom Curriculum.

Creating Safe Spaces: Establishing Ground Rules and Support Systems for Students.

Reflection and Evaluation: Assessing the Impact of Mindfulness-Based Theatre on Peer Bullying Prevention and Student Well-being.

Action Planning: Developing Strategies for Sustaining Mindfulness Practices and Theatre Initiatives in School Settings.

The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 400€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:
