This 5-day teacher training course is intended for any audience who is interested in preventing, detecting and intervening in cases of school bullying. Particularly intended for teachers, school staff, educators and trainers in the field of education. Although bullying is a phenomenon which directly affects teachers, they receive little preparation in how to handle it. One way to correct this situation is to include specific content about bullying within their initial curriculum.  

 

'Anti-Bullying: Effective Methods to Prevent Bullying' training course provides guidance on how to take a comprehensive approach against bullying through the use of long-term, school-wide prevention strategies. Moreover, this course aims to broaden and deepen your understanding, experience, and critical thinking skills with regard to bullying and prevention of bullying in the school environment. You will develop foundational skills that will aid you as you continue to become more aware while teaching and skilled in your personal and professional life. Analysing the characteristics of bullies, learning best practices to avoid bullying and developing new strategies towards anti-bullying will be emphasised in this 5-day course. 

By completing this course, participants will;  

 

• Understand what bullying is, including the five components of bullying behaviour 

• Describe the basic research on bullying’s prevalence, risk factors, and impact on youth involved  

• Gain ideas of best practices in bullying prevention and response 

• Identify specific pathways for translating bullying prevention best practices into policy and practice  

• Learn potentially harmful strategies and the rationale for avoiding them 

• Identify school strategies towards success and create a positive climate in the classroom and school  

• Identify strategies that will change the dynamic and move the situation forward 

• Understand the role technology can play in bullying behaviour (cyberbullying) 

• Be able to recognise a child who may be being bullied and understand the damaging physical and emotional effects  

• Be able to put actions in place to tackle bullying in their organisation or setting. 

• Improve foreign language and communication skills through meeting with colleagues from different countries

 

 

• Day 1 - Monday  

Welcoming and Introduction of the course programme  

Presentation of participants  

Ice-breaking activities  

Define the basic concepts related to the bullying, anti-bullying, peer pressure, the bully and the bullies and explore their impact in a classroom 

Types of bullying; the effects of different type of bullies on the victims 

How to identify the bullying, the bully and bullied people  

Myths about bullying  

 

• Day 2 - Tuesday  

How to talk to a student/child if they are the bully or they are the bullied 

Warning signs of bullying  

Bullying in Europe and USA: Facts and Statistics  

Introduction to ENABLE (European Network against Bullying in Learning and Leisure Environments) programme and aims of the programme. 

Group discussion: The cycle of violence: How is bullying maintained? What reinforces it?  

 

• Day 3 - Wednesday  

Effective methods, strategies: parent-teacher-student collaboration 

How to teach children empathy, tolerance and respect for diversity 

The future of parental engagement in prevention of bullying at school 

Introduction to ENABLE ‘Anti-bullying Parents/Carers Pack’

Examples of good practices around Europe and most effective techniques  

What can drama teach us to prevent bullying  

Role playing; case studies, scenarios  

Incorporating anti-bullying lessons in your curriculum  

Bullying prevention, policies, campaigns and activities  

 

• Day 4 - Thursday  

Understanding Cyberbullying - most common form of bullying 

Understanding cyber safety, cyberbullying and cyber wellness  

Reading emotions in social situations - how to steer my emotions towards a positive mindset

Peer Support Training Plan  

Digital Parenting  

Group discussion on social and emotional skill development

Participants will prepare a group/individual plan or project on how to deal with a bullying situation  

 

• Day 5 - Friday  

Presentation of group/individual projects  

Sharing expected learning competences during the training period with other participants  

How can I implement what I have learnt in my professional and personal life 

Evaluation of the training course, discussion and feedbacks  

Exchange of ideas for future collaborations at European level  

Certification of Attendance

The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 420€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:
