Cybersecurity and Digital Literacy Training for Teachers is a comprehensive and specialized Erasmus+ teachers' training course aimed at primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary school educators, school staff, and educators. In today's technology-driven world, integrating digital tools into education has become essential for preparing students for future challenges. However, with this digital transformation comes the responsibility to ensure the safety and security of students and staff within the digital realm. This interactive 5-day course is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge, skills, and practical strategies necessary to promote online safety, digital literacy, and cybersecurity in schools effectively.

 

Throughout the course, participants will explore the foundations of cybersecurity, digital literacy, and responsible digital citizenship, enabling them to create a secure and inclusive digital learning environment. By engaging in hands-on activities, collaborative discussions, and real-life scenarios, teachers will learn how to integrate digital literacy across various subjects, foster critical thinking in students, and address cyber threats and risks within the school community. Furthermore, this course will guide participants in the development of a school-wide cybersecurity action plan, ensuring the implementation of cybersecurity practices throughout the educational institution.

 

 

By the end of this course, participating teachers will be able to:

 

  1. Understand the fundamental principles of cybersecurity and digital literacy within the school context, recognizing their importance in primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools.
  2. Identify potential digital threats and vulnerabilities faced by schools, classrooms, and educators, enabling them to take proactive measures to protect sensitive information and personal data.
  3. Foster critical thinking and responsible online behavior among students, promoting digital citizenship and ethical digital interactions.
  4. Integrate digital literacy components across various subjects and grade levels, enhancing students' ability to evaluate digital information and navigate the digital landscape effectively.
  5. Utilize a variety of digital tools and resources to enhance teaching methods and student engagement, tailoring them to suit different educational contexts and learning preferences.
  6. Design cybersecurity-aware lesson plans and activities tailored to various age groups and subjects, ensuring the seamless integration of cybersecurity concepts into the curriculum.
  7. Recognize and address cyberbullying and other online risks within the school community, implementing strategies to create a safer digital environment for all stakeholders.
  8. Create a comprehensive school-wide cybersecurity action plan, encompassing strategies for integrating digital literacy and cybersecurity into the school curriculum, policies, and student activities.
  9. Collaborate effectively with other educators, school staff, and stakeholders to promote a cybersecurity-aware school community and foster a culture of responsible digital citizenship.
  10. Empower students to become responsible digital citizens, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the digital world securely and responsibly.

 

By achieving these learning outcomes, participating teachers will be better equipped to act as Cybersecurity and Digital Literacy Ambassadors in their respective schools, contributing to the creation of a safer, more inclusive, and digitally savvy learning environment for all students.

Classes take place Monday to Friday in the morning 

 

Day 1: Introduction to Cybersecurity and Digital Literacy

 

Welcome and course overview, including introductions of participants and their experiences with technology in education.

Understanding the importance of cybersecurity and digital literacy in primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools.

Exploring the challenges and opportunities of the digital age in the educational context.

Identifying the target audience's needs and expectations for the course.

 

Day 2: Foundations of Cybersecurity and Online Safety

 

Introducing the fundamental principles of cybersecurity and digital threats faced by schools and educators.

Identifying potential risks and vulnerabilities in digital classrooms and networks.

Promoting online safety and responsible digital behavior among students and staff.

Practical exercises on securing personal data and devices within an educational environment.

 

Day 3: Empowering Digital Literacy in the Classroom

 

Integrating digital literacy across various subjects and age groups.

Developing critical thinking skills to evaluate digital information and sources.

Teaching students to navigate the digital landscape responsibly and ethically.

Collaborative activities for media literacy and responsible online communication.

 

Day 4: Cybersecurity Measures for Schools

 

Understanding common cyber threats like phishing, malware, and cyberbullying.

Implementing proactive measures to secure school networks and digital assets.

Educating students on identifying and reporting cyber incidents.

Group discussions on fostering a cybersecurity-aware school community.

 

Day 5: School-Wide Cybersecurity Action Planning

 

Collaborative creation of a school-wide cybersecurity action plan, tailored to each participant's respective educational institution.

Course recap and review of key takeaways from the entire training program.

Final assessments and evaluation of participants' learning outcomes.

The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 400€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:
