The Robotics and Coding for Innovative Classrooms course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to empower teachers with the knowledge and skills to integrate robotics and coding effectively into their classrooms. This course explores the benefits of incorporating robotics and coding in education, providing teachers with innovative approaches and pedagogical frameworks to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Through hands-on workshops with Scratch, LEGO Mindstorms EV3 and Arduino, participants will learn to build and program basic to advanced robotic models, explore block-based programming languages, and design cross-disciplinary projects. The course also covers assessment strategies, ethical considerations, and real-world examples, enabling teachers to create innovative and inclusive learning environments that foster creativity, collaboration, and technological literacy among their students.

This 5-day teacher training, consists of basic coding assignments, project ideas and lesson plans that can be applicable in your own classroom environment while teaching any subject. In  this course, participants will learn the basics and key concepts of coding and  programming languages. Through this course, teachers  will gain confidence in their teaching while enhancing students’ skills on problem solving and creativity. Participants will learn to teach their students coding in a fun  and interactive way through designing games, websites, music and writing simple code in softwares.

At the end of the training, participants will create subject-specific project and learn to integrate computational thinking into that subject’s curriculum. The main aim of this is to give teachers fundamental tools to make them feel comfortable with coding and robotics while teaching in their own classroom setting.

By the end of the course, participants will:

  1. Understand the benefits of integrating robotics and coding in education and explore innovative approaches and pedagogical frameworks.
  2. Gain practical skills in building and programming robots using LEGO Mindstorms EV3, Scratch, and Arduino, fostering hands-on learning experiences.
  3. Integrate robotics, coding, and creativity across the curriculum, designing cross-disciplinary projects that align with learning objectives.
  4. Develop strategies for effective lesson planning, implementation, and assessment of student learning in robotics and coding.
  5. Foster creativity, collaboration, and communication skills through collaborative robotics projects and competitions.
  6. Explore Scratch as a powerful block-based programming language for creating interactive and animated projects.
  7. Reflect on ethical considerations and responsible use of robotics technologies in the classroom.
  8. Explore real-world examples and case studies of successful robotics and coding integration, drawing inspiration for innovative classroom practices.
  9. Create a personal action plan for integrating robotics and coding, tailored to their specific classroom needs.
  10. Establish a network of educators interested in robotics and coding, fostering ongoing collaboration and support.
  11. Improve foreign language and communication skills through meeting with colleagues from different countries
