In this course, we dive into the principles of Positive Education, a holistic approach that combines the science of well-being with educational practices. By integrating positive psychology, character strengths, and social-emotional learning, Positive Education aims to foster not only academic success but also the overall well-being and happiness of students.

 

Throughout the course, you will explore the key concepts, theories, and research behind Positive Education, gaining a deep understanding of the factors that contribute to well-being in schools. We will delve into topics such as fostering positive relationships, positive communication, promoting resilience, enhancing emotional intelligence, nurturing character strengths, and cultivating a growth mindset. Through interactive sessions, engaging discussions, and practical activities, you will learn how to implement evidence-based strategies and interventions that create a positive school climate. We will delve into the role of positive communication, mindfulness practices, and strengths-based teaching in promoting well-being and happiness among students.

 

Furthermore, you will discover the importance of positive school leadership and the role it plays in creating a culture of well-being. We will explore strategies for fostering collaboration among staff, establishing meaningful connections with students and families, and implementing positive policies and practices throughout the school community. As part of the Erasmus+ program, this course embraces a multicultural and collaborative learning environment. You will have the opportunity to share experiences, exchange best practices, and build a network of educators committed to Positive Education and creating Happy Schools. The course facilitators, experts in the field of Positive Education, will guide you through the course modules, providing personalized support and feedback to ensure your professional growth and development.

 

Upon completion of this course, you will be equipped with a comprehensive toolkit of Positive Education strategies, enabling you to transform your classroom and school into a thriving and nurturing environment.   3. Identify and apply evidence-based strategies and interventions that promote positive relationships among students, teachers, and the school community.
  4. You will learn techniques to better manage your own emotions and respond effectively to the emotions of others.
  5. You will develop strategies for building and maintaining positive relationships through effective communication and empathy.
  6. Cultivate resilience and emotional intelligence through practical techniques and activities.
  7. Recognise and nurture character strengths in students, fostering their personal growth and self-awareness.
  8. Incorporate mindfulness practices into daily routines to enhance well-being and create a positive learning environment.
  9. Foster a growth mindset in students, helping them develop a positive attitude towards challenges and embrace a love of learning.
  10. You will gain insights into your own emotional strengths and challenges, enhancing your ability to recognise and understand your emotions.
  11. Implement positive communication strategies to enhance student engagement, motivation, and overall well-being.
  12. Develop an action plan for implementing Positive Education principles and practices in their own classroom or school, tailored to their specific context and needs.

Classes take place Monday to Friday in the morning.

 

Day 1 - Introduction to Positive Education and Understanding Positive Relationships

Day 2 - Nurturing Character Strengths and Promoting a Growth Mindset 

 

Introduction to character strengths and their role in Positive Education

Identifying and nurturing individual character strengths in students

Integrating character strengths into lesson planning and classroom activities

Practical activity: Strengths-based storytelling and strengths-spotting exercises

Understanding the concept of a growth mindset and its impact on student learning

Strategies for fostering a growth mindset culture in the classroom

Encouraging effort, embracing challenges, and reframing failures

Practical activity: Collaborative problem-solving tasks to cultivate a growth mindset

 

Day 3 - Positive Communication and Mindfullness 

 

Effective communication techniques for promoting student well-being and engagement

Active listening skills and empathy in the classroom

Positive feedback and reinforcement strategies

Practical activity: Role-play scenarios to practice positive communication skills

Introduction to mindfulness and its benefits for students and teachers

Mindful breathing, body scans, and other mindfulness exercises

Integrating mindfulness into daily routines and curriculum

Day 4 - Social-Emotional Learning and Emotional Intelligence

 

Key principles of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)

Strategies for incorporating SEL into various subjects

Hands-on activities and exercises for teaching SEL skills

Role-playing scenarios to practice social-emotional skills

How to assess SEL skills and outcomes

 

Day 5 - Cultivating Resilience and Reflecting on Personal Practice

 

Definition and significance of resilience in education: techniques for developing resilience 

Practical activity: Designing and implementing a classroom-based resilience-building activity

Self-reflection on personal teaching practices and beliefs 

Identifying areas for growth and development in promoting well-being

Goal-setting for continued professional development in Positive Education

Practical activity: Creating an action plan for implementing SEL and positive communication in schools

Certificates of Attendance and confirmation of Erasmus+ Mobility documents

The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 400€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:

 

  1. Course Materials: Participants will receive all necessary course materials, including handouts, guides, and resources, to support their learning throughout the program.

  2. Administrative Support: Participants will benefit from administrative assistance before, during, and after the course, ensuring a smooth registration process, timely communication, and any necessary follow-up support.

  3. Monitoring and Mentoring: The course fee covers monitoring and mentoring services provided by experienced professionals who will guide participants throughout the program, offering personalized support, feedback, and guidance.

  4. Coffee Breaks: Participants will enjoy refreshments during coffee breaks, fostering networking opportunities and providing a relaxed environment for informal discussions and interactions.

  5. Other Inclusions: The fee also covers any additional services or resources required for the successful implementation of the course, ensuring a comprehensive and fulfilling learning experience.
