This 5-Day teacher training course focuses on multicultural education and is designed for educational professionals to introduce the concepts of cultural tolerance, social empowerment, and the intersection of cultures in the global classroom, as well as to provide multiple perspectives and strategies for teaching a culturally diverse population.
This course aims to broaden and deepen your understanding, experience, and critical thinking skills with regard to cultural differences and cross-cultural interactions in the classroom. Intercultural competence—a lifelong and ongoing learning process—is introduced as a crucial skill set and benefit to the individual, organisations, interpersonal relationships, and society. You will develop foundational skills that will help you as you continue to become more inter-culturally aware while teaching and will improve your personal and professional relationships. Analysing the role of culture in the world, developing culturally responsive practices, and understanding the barriers, the benefits and challenges of diversity will be emphasised in this course.
By completing this course, participants will;
• Know and understand individual differences and diverse cultures/communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that promote high standards and high expectation of all learners
• Recognise the importance of diversity education
• Demonstrate the ability to continue learning about cultures and to expand one’s perspectives, adapting to new and varied student needs, in addition to understanding the basic traditions and values inherent to various cultures and issues
• Know and demonstrate in practice, multiple strategies for teaching and assessing students with varied needs and styles of learning
• Know, understand, and demonstrate a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and apply knowledge in meaningful ways
• Appropriately incorporate diverse cultural material into the curriculum and know how to screen educational materials for biased or potentially offensive material
• Demonstrate an understanding of culture as a collage of factors beyond race and national origin
• Know and demonstrate strategies for working positively with diverse families.
• Know and understand how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to local and global issues.
• Improve their soft skills such as communication, collaboration and creativity
• Promote European cooperation in the field of education within the framework of the Erasmus+ program by partnership building
• Improve foreign language skills through active interaction with colleagues from different European countries

• Day 3 - Wednesday
Differentiate between how cultural beliefs influence behaviours and practices in the classroom
Identify various aspects of personal and social barriers to diversity inclusiveness in the classroom
Analyse the causes and effects of discrimination and prejudice in the classroom
Explanation of how communication and culture interrelate in education
Definition and analysis of the terms ‘self’ and ‘the other’
Exploring stereotypes in education and ways to overcome them?
Common beliefs and testing yourself for hidden biases
Critical practices for anti-bias education
• Day 4 - Thursday
Examples of sustainability projects developed in schools
Preparation for culturally responsive teaching
How to develop and apply culturally relevant curriculum
Teaching tolerance in a multicultural classroom environment
How to create a safe and open classroom environment in multicultural education?
How to prepare your students to build tolerance for all
Working in groups/individually to develop a lesson plan/project for a culturally diverse classroom

Presentation of group/individual projects
Final Remarks on Cultural Diversity and Tolerance
Exchange of ideas for future collaborations at European level
