In today's globalized world, classrooms are becoming increasingly diverse, comprising students from various cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, languages, and abilities. "Building Bridges: Promoting Diversity, Tolerance and Inclusion in Schools" is a comprehensive Erasmus+ course designed specifically for teachers, educators, and school staff who aim to enhance their skills in intercultural classroom management and promote inclusion in educational settings.
This course goes beyond theoretical concepts and delves into practical strategies and methodologies that teachers can implement immediately in their classrooms. Through interactive workshops, engaging discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will gain profound insights into their own cultural identities and biases. They will learn to foster empathy and understanding among students, building bridges that connect individuals from diverse backgrounds while celebrating the richness of their varied perspectives. Participants will explore the significance of intercultural communication and its role in promoting effective classroom management. By examining cultural biases and stereotypes, teachers will become aware of the potential challenges and misunderstandings that can arise in diverse classrooms.
The course emphasizes the value of inclusive education, addressing the needs of all learners, including those with different abilities, learning styles, and cultural experiences. Participants will learn practical approaches to tailor their instructional methods to meet individual learning needs while creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all. Throughout the program, teachers will engage in hands-on exercises to design culturally responsive lesson plans and educational activities. By completing this course, participants will achieve the following learning outcomes:

Day 1 - Monday: Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity
Welcoming and Introduction of the course programme
Presentation of participants, ice-breaking and team-building activities
Introduction to Cultural Diversity: Understanding the significance of cultural diversity in the classroom, its benefits, and challenges.
Exploring Personal Cultural Identities: Engaging in self-reflection activities to become more aware of one's own cultural identity, values, and biases.
Developing Cultural Sensitivity: Learning strategies to foster cultural sensitivity, empathy, and open-mindedness in educational practices.
Building Cross-Cultural Understanding: Encouraging participants to share and discuss their cultural backgrounds, fostering an environment of respect and appreciation.
Day 2 - Tuesday: Intercultural Communication Skills
Effective Communication in Diverse Classrooms: Exploring communication barriers and best practices for promoting effective intercultural communication.
Active Listening and Empathy: Developing active listening skills to understand and validate the perspectives and experiences of students from diverse backgrounds.
Non-Verbal Communication: Recognizing the importance of non-verbal cues in intercultural communication and its impact on classroom dynamics.
Conflict Resolution Strategies: Learning constructive ways to address conflicts that may arise due to cultural misunderstandings.
Day 3 - Wednesday: Inclusive Education Approaches
Principles of Inclusive Education: Understanding the core principles and philosophy of inclusive education and its relevance in modern classrooms.
Culturally Responsive Teaching: Exploring how to adapt teaching methods and materials to reflect students' cultural backgrounds and experiences.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Understanding UDL principles to design flexible and inclusive lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.
Creating Inclusive Learning Spaces: Collaboratively designing an inclusive classroom environment that celebrates diversity and promotes active student participation.
Day 4 - Thursday: Supporting Students with Diverse Needs
Identifying Diverse Learning Needs: Recognizing the varying learning styles, abilities, and strengths of students in the classroom.
Differentiation Strategies: Learning practical approaches to differentiate instruction and assignments to meet individual learning needs effectively.
Creating Inclusive Support Systems: Exploring how to establish a support network involving teachers, parents, and specialists to address diverse learning needs.
Empowering Learners: Understanding the importance of student agency and encouraging students to take ownership of their learning journeys.
Day 5: Strategies for Intercultural Classroom Management
Positive Classroom Management: Exploring strategies to foster a positive classroom atmosphere that promotes inclusivity, respect, and engagement.
Conflict Resolution and Restorative Practices: Learning restorative approaches to address conflicts and restore harmonious relationships in the classroom.
Personalized Action Plans: Developing personalized action plans that outline specific steps and goals for implementing inclusive practices in participants' educational settings.
Course Reflection and Networking: Reflecting on the course journey, discussing insights gained, and creating a supportive network of like-minded educators for ongoing collaboration.
Certification of Attendance and confirmation of Erasmus+ mobility documents
The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 400€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:
