The AI-PBL course is designed to empower Erasmus+ school education teachers, including lower secondary, upper secondary, vocational, and adult education instructors, with the knowledge and skills to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) into Project-Based Learning (PBL) environments. This innovative course offers a dynamic and hands-on approach to explore the seamless integration of AI concepts and techniques into project-based educational activities.

 

Artificial Intelligence has become an integral part of our modern world, impacting various industries and sectors, including education. As educators, understanding the potential of AI and harnessing its capabilities can lead to more engaging and personalized learning experiences for students. This course aims to equip teachers from diverse educational backgrounds with the necessary tools and strategies to effectively leverage AI technologies in PBL settings, fostering creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among their students.

 

As a core element of the course, participants will delve into ethical considerations surrounding AI integration in education. Teachers will explore the responsible and ethical use of AI technologies, encouraging students to become critical thinkers who question AI biases and understand the implications of AI-driven decisions. By promoting digital citizenship and data privacy awareness, educators will instill essential digital competencies that empower students to navigate the ever-evolving digital landscape responsibly.

 

By the end of the AI-PBL course, Erasmus+ school education teachers, spanning lower secondary, upper secondary, vocational, and adult education levels, will be equipped with the confidence and competence to integrate AI concepts seamlessly into their project-based learning environments. Participants will be prepared to inspire their diverse groups of students, cultivating a generation of learners who are well-versed in AI and prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

Upon completion of the course, participants will:

 

  1. Understand the Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of AI concepts, including machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and AI ethics.
  2. Integrate AI Concepts into Project-Based Learning: Teachers will learn how to incorporate AI-driven projects into their curriculum, designing enriching learning experiences that align with educational objectives.

  3. Explore AI Tools and Resources: Participants will explore a variety of AI tools and resources available for educational purposes, identifying the most suitable ones for their specific teaching needs.

  4. Develop AI-PBL Lesson Plans: Teachers will create AI-powered project-based learning lesson plans, integrating AI technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

  5. Foster Collaborative Learning: The course emphasizes collaborative learning techniques, encouraging participants to work together in developing AI-PBL projects, sharing ideas, and best practices.

  6. Assessing AI-PBL Projects: Teachers will learn effective methods for assessing AI-driven projects, considering both technical aspects and the development of essential 21st-century skills.

  7. Ethical Considerations: The course will address ethical considerations in AI and guide teachers on how to foster responsible AI use and digital citizenship in their classrooms.

Classes take place Monday to Friday in the morning.

 

Day 1: Understanding the Fundamentals of AI in Education

 

Course introduction, objectives, and expectations, providing an overview of the course structure and participant introductions.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in various industries, including education

AI concepts: Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, etc.

Exploring AI-powered educational tools and resources

Introduction to Project Based Learning 

Group activity: Brainstorming AI use cases in project-based learning

 

Day 2: Integrating AI Concepts into Project-Based Learning

 

Overview of Project-Based Learning (PBL) and its benefits for students

Identifying opportunities to integrate AI concepts into PBL activities

Designing AI-enhanced project ideas for different subject areas and education levels

Workshop: Creating AI-PBL lesson plans for specific learning objectives

 

 

Day 3: Hands-On with AI Tools and Platforms

 

Practical session: Interacting with AI tools and platforms for education

Understanding AI data and model selection for educational projects

Collaborative activity: Building and testing AI models for PBL projects

Ethical considerations in AI projects and promoting responsible AI use

 

Day 4: Collaborative Learning and Assessment in AI-PBL

 

Collaborative learning strategies for AI-PBL projects

Group work: Peer-review and feedback on AI-PBL lesson plans

Assessing AI-PBL projects for technical and 21st-century skill development

Personalized guidance from facilitators on project refinement

 

Day 5: Showcasing AI-PBL Projects and Closing Ceremony

 

Finalizing and presenting AI-PBL projects to peers and facilitators

Reflection on the course journey and lessons learned

Future perspectives: Sustaining AI integration in classroom practices

Final remarks: Certification of Attendance and Confirmation of Erasmus+ Mobility documents

 

The 5-day course fee per participant is set at 420€, which provides comprehensive coverage for all aspects of the program. This fee includes the following:
